To me– Old age is always ten years older than I am- Bernard Baruch
This sole thought has given me the courage to write this without running up-to the mirror looking for gray hair or wrinkled skin.
My mom tells me I was born old and I do joke around about being old with friends but the accepted fact is?
I am not old!! Period.
Learning is simple right? It’s the process of moving information from out there- from a textbook, podcast, article, online tutorial etc etc to our intelligent minds. But how come via the same information, each one of us learn such diverse things?
Keeping that thought in mind, even with so many, “What I learned in my (so and so age)” articles, I’m excited to talk about my learning (still in progress) in my 20’s, as I am not 30 yet.
And when I do turn, I’d be exactly Like crying Joe (Friends)– Why God why (his terminology, not mine) we had a deal, let others grow old, not me!!!
1- I can control my outrageous reaction to an emotion, be it anger, envy, insecurity, hatred, disappointment, or any other. By taking a pause between these extreme feelings and my reaction to them!
2- My line of thoughts is the best way to know myself, there is no point shunning them as someone else’s embarrassment. It’s better to accept them and channel them instead.
3- Self love is more important than infatuation, sexual or genuine love for someone else!
4- Some friends will always be there, irrespective of my frequency of touch. The bond has already been registered.
5- Commitments are more important than my mood swings.
6- There are plenty of tasty choices while eating healthy food! And Fruit custurd can make me come alive on a tiring day.
7- I am going to have disagreements with parents and that cannot affect our care.
8- Siblings who I strangled while growing up have become my strength in my adulthood.
9- Let the world speak sh## or sweet. You only need your hearts approval to do something.
10- Travelling is like a reset button to my monotonous routine.
11- Sometimes People don’t live up to their promises due to situations, they still mean well.
12- Self dependence with finances is a must.
13- Cooking, washing, cleaning are the basis to-dos. Don’t be ignorant to them.
14- Number of people in my life has nothing to do with my worth.
15- There is more to a person than outer beauty and my core can’t compromise much on the former.
16- A 15 year old can be more mature than a 60 year old. Age is a number indeed!
17- Writing opens those creative tunnels, the magic of which can only be felt, not anticipated.
18- No-one can understand me more than I do. So no doubting that.
19- My baggage potholes can be filled by only me, so be choosy about the material.
20- Never let anyone make you feel conscious about your body. If they still do, start putting extra fat in their food.
To the anonymous- 20’s, Please don’t get over!!!
